Steven Prager is a Principal Scientist for Integrated Modeling at CIAT where he leads activities supporting ex-ante impact assessment of different agricultural technologies and policies. He also co-leads a team of agricultural and climate system modelers whose work is used throughout the world to support agriculture decision-making. He has a PhD in Geography from Simon Fraser University where he studied economic development and the throughput of environmental goods and services. Prior to joining CIAT, Steve was an Associate Professor of Geography at the University of Wyoming where he conducted research and taught in the area of Geographic Information Science. At CIAT, Steve is interested in facilitating more informed decision-making in a broad range of areas from research investments to farm management through the use of decision-science approaches, as well as the promotion and use of open data and big data analytics to improve the lives of smallholder agriculture producers.
