Steve Kemp is a Professor of Molecular Genetics at the University of Liverpool, UK and leads ILRI's genomics projects. His research interests focus on livestock functional genomics, particularly mechanisms of disease resistance in livestock as well as livestock and pathogen diversity.  He coordinates a number of other projects within ILRI and at Liverpool, these broadly relate to mechanisms of trypanotolerance, genome characterisation in several livestock species, climate and disease interactions, bio-repository development and the use of transgenic technologies in livestock.
